Description About Garuda Indonesia Logo
Garuda Indonesia is the national airline of Indonesia. Its name comes from Garuda, a bird of Hindu mythology. The characters in mythology and the great Indian epics are indeed still present in the culture of the inhabitants of Java, the most populated island in Indonesia. After abandoning its European destinations in 2002, Garuda has resumed its service to Amsterdam in 2010. The international network of the company therefore now covers Asia, Australia, Middle East and Europe.
In 2008, Garuda has been exceeded by the private company Lion Air of Indonesia in the domestic market, losing the first place and from Range 1 to the second. In 1998, the year following the crisis, the company had shipped 5 million passengers, 7.3 million against the previous year, a drop in traffic of 31%. Since then, traffic has steadily increased to 7.2 million passengers in 2003 (including 1.7 million on international flights), its pre-crisis level. Garuda always keen to expand in Asia will join the SkyTeam alliance in 2012
